Dravyaguna (Pharmacology)

Ayurveda the science of life has two main objectives to maintain the health of healthy person and to cure the diseases of the diseased person. To achieve both of these objectives knowledge of Dravya is essential. The knowledge of Dravya can only be possible by the knowledge of Dravyaguna Vigyana, further Dravya is also mentioned under four essential factors of treatment (Chikitsa Chatushpada). This shows the importance of Dravya in Ayurveda. Thus the Dravyaguna Vigyana is of utmost importance in Ayurveda. Drvyaguna Vigyana is an integral part of Ayurveda which deals comprehensively withAyrvedic Pharmacology (Dravya, Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipaka, Pradhava and karma). Branch also deals with identification, collection, storage and preservation of row materials. Department works with objectives to provide knowledge of fundamental principles of Dravyaguna, drug action as per Ayurveda. Dravyaguna Department focuses on conservation and cultivation aspects of medicinal planyts and also caters to the need of Health seekers by supplying the house hold medicinal plants which serve as remedy common ailments.
